What London Fashion Week Told Us About SS 18

London Fashion Week finished a couple of months ago, and many of us have still been digesting and interpreting the Spring / Summer 2018 catalogues from some of fashion’s biggest names. Here are the top 3 things we learned to help us stay ahead of the game for the coming SS18 season:

  1. Ruffles are back

Ruffles were one of the biggest trends last season, and it seems they’re back in full-force for the coming SS18 season too. Almost every designer seemed to feature ruffles in some form or another throughout the week, including designs from Simone Rocha, Ryan Lo and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.

  1. Small glasses are the way forward

The 1990s are one of the biggest influences for the coming season (and the previous season too), and it seems that designers are still pulling trends from this decade with the return of tiny frames.

Wherever you looked at London Fashion Week, micro-frames were out in force, with example from Prada, Gucci and even some retro Ray-Ban glasses. The likes of Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner were all seen sporting these frames, and many catwalks saw outfits accessorised with them.

  1. It’s all yellow

One trend you simply couldn’t miss during the week was the colour yellow, which was all over the runways in a variety of shades.

Replacing the standard palette of black, grey and navy, shades of yellow were seen on high-profile outfits from the likes of Ports 1961, Molly Goddard and Mary Katratzou.
